This morning we had the privilege of interviewing Maggie Tuttle, who is a tireless campaigner for the Voice of the Child in the care system.

In this interview we discuss children who have been abused in care, the possibly controversial revelation that 18 year old’s are legally allowed to foster, what it’s like for those children who end up running away from care homes and foster homes and living on the streets of London, Maggie’s own charity, Children Screaming to Be Heard, which she set up to provide an ingenious solution to help abused runaways and her petition to ask Downing Street to set up a monument for all the forgotten children who have been let down by the system or abused by those in charge of protecting them.

  • You can access the charity’s website here

Lawcast with CharonQC: Researching Reform on Single Dads, Forced Marriage and More..

15 Friday Jun 2012

We would like to thank CharonQC for having Researching Reform on last night to talk about family policy and the law. It was a privilege to be able to chat with Charon and as always, we managed to laugh as well as discuss some very interesting areas relating to the human condition and the law.

During the podcast we talked about the work Researching Reform does, the exciting collaboration with DadsHouse and the event we’re holding in the House of Lords to launch the nationwide exhibition, Erick Pickles and Problem Families, Gay marriage and the church, forced marriage and more!

You can access the podcast here – we should probably apologise in advance for talking too fast, making a couple of mistakes (we need to say sorry to the NIESR, as we called them the NISER….) and laughing, probably a little too loudly … 🙂

CharonQC’s blog focuses on current affairs and the law, as well as offering outstanding and free resources for legal students. Well worth a read and a follow, if you’re not hooked onto it already. And the line up would not be complete without mentioning Charon’s Twitter feed – if you don’t fall in love with the Queen’s MI5 Ducks after the first tweet (ducks who tweet, go figure), then you’re just not reading the tweets carefully enough, init…..

Today we spoke with Paul Gorman, an independent financial adviser, and only one of a few in the country who is accredited by Resolution. Paul does a lot of family law financial planning so we caught up with him to ask him how this kind of service could help families separating or going through divorce.

Interview: Paul Gorman, Tuesday 1st  May, 2012

Paul Gorman (Still smiling, despite being home alone with four kids, a hectic work schedule and Researching Reform quizzing him about financial planning)!

Paul runs a firm of financial planners and advisers based in the Midlands, and has over 25 years’ experience. You can click here to see his firm’s website. He also runs the very interesting Flawbord, which is a forum for family law bloggers, collecting all the latest news and views from around the net on all things family. Below are some more useful links on financial planning:

If you’d like to catch up with Paul on Twitter, you can do that here!
