Exaro, a British newspaper with a strong focus on the nation’s child abuse inquiry, is hosting another panel debate on the extent of child abuse in the UK and the panel members include a former Abuse Inquiry member, child abuse survivor and investigative producer for BBC’s Newsnight and Panorama programmes.
The debate will take place on Wednesday 27th January, 2016 at a venue in Fleet Street (still to be arranged) and will start at 6pm and finish at 7.30pm.
Speakers for the evening include:
- Meirion Jones, of BBC’s Newsnight and Panorama programmes
- Esther Baker, a key witness to an investigation on child exploitation and survivor of child sexual abuse
- Sharon Evans, CEO of Dot Com Children’s Foundation and Former Inquiry panel member
- Paul Connew, former editor of the Sunday Mirror
Panorama is significant within the debate on child abuse in England and Wales and its part to play in addressing the extent of the problem. Its recent programme looking to find flaws in the child abuse focused investigative process was poorly received by survivors and caused concern amongst charities and campaigners who feared that the film would deter survivors from coming forward.
There are 150 seats available to the public for this debate. Anyone wishing to attend, can email events@exaronews.net.
