Officials working on behalf of the Statutory Inquiry Into Child Sexual Abuse have confirmed that the Panel will be releasing progress reports as they begin their investigations into child abuse.
This news comes as an estimate of the duration of the Inquiry, suggested by a Home Office official to be in the region of 8 years depending on the number of victims and survivors who come forward, caused concern last week.
There is also talk that the Inquiry may also release interim recommendations, presumably to stem the suggestion that they are purposefully stalling the investigation and also, to ensure that a long-ranging Inquiry like this one offers calls for action which can be implemented sooner rather than later.
Despite talk that the Inquiry is intentionally trying to stall proceedings, Researching Reform does not agree. The Panel is clearly trying to ensure that there is a good working structure in place and that, contrary to Baroness Butler-Sloss’s recent criticisms of the Inquiry, every survivor who wishes to come forward, can do so.
The progress reports and recommendations are a step forward for the Inquiry into child abuse. Much of the problems they have faced to date have been due to the Panel’s inability to gauge the public’s desire to be kept informed and the pressing need to show what is happening behind the scenes. The Inquiry’s tone and frequency of engagement with the public, is now key.

Natasha, sorry I disagree with you, this investergation is not for the governments to take eight years to debate and debate because all they do and have done so is to cover up the child sex abuse and with the secrets act from 50 years to 100 years time goes on and they know already of truth so why another 8 years, what the victims need is an independant commitee set up by top lawyers and Barristers who will take on the cases to bring the abusers to court and this commitee will work soley with the victims and instead of the governments being paid what will run into millions of pounds this can be paid to the lawyers and Barristers fund to help the victims, how on earth can these government do-gooders know what these victims have been put through with many losing their childhood days, then I suppose after 8 years debating it will continue for many more years it is all a ploy and the way governments work to prolong what they already know, and I suppose they already know the names of many of the child abusers in governments it is all a cover up and also linked with the life insurances company and the longer it goes on then many of the paedos in governments will be dead, no case to answer,

Hi Maggie, I understand what you’re saying and I too have reservations about the good an Inquiry will do, but I don’t think this particular incident is a deliberate attempt to block the Inquiry.

if correct then why 8 years then what will they do and why should it be the do-gooders in Governments who cannot even run the country properly let alone help victims who have been abused by their own laws with the abuse on-going.

Hi Maggie, I think it was an estimate based on the number of people that might come forward. I have plenty of gripes about our Inquiry, but we can’t do them down for being thorough, if that is what they’re being.

one other thought is that John Hemming should be the ONE person to be in charge of this whole child abuse investigation he is the only person I would say is honest and cares for the children families and victims and i am sure he has never been a voice for the people for money, as I well know he has spoken at my conference for no fees, it was because he cared and cares.
