As President of the Family Division, Sir James Munby, gets ready to leave office and make way for his successor Andrew McFarlane, he has invited all family judges to complete a survey and share their views on improving the family justice system.
Part of the letter reads a little like a “Look what I did during my time in office” deal, but we’ll forgive him that.
The programme for family court reform itself is set to finish in 2022, however no one is really sure how long the process will take, because the task is so vast and as yet hasn’t been fully quantified.
In his letter, Munby sets out the current major areas for reform:
Digital Technology – the proposals hope to make family courts fully digital, or paperless, with online systems which make processing cases faster and more efficient.
Estate Reform – family courts are in desperate need of refurbishment and modernisation, as well as a more secure infrastructure for court staff as well as vulnerable witnesses. The reform programme aims to build new courts and create better layouts inside these court houses for employees and service users.
Case Officers – the introduction of case workers, who will act a little like legal advisers, taking on some of the admin roles inside the courts, and in so doing free up judicial time. The scope and remit of case officers has yet to be decided.
Munby suggests in his letter that the Reform Programme, coupled with the current changes inside the Family Court, will lead to lasting improvements inside the system. Any family judges who would like to share thoughts outside of the survey can do so by emailing pfd.office@judiciary.uk. Perhaps the President might like to hear from service users too?

What about asking families who have experienced it? Not just the parents, the grandparents, aunts and uncles, cousins etc? who have experienced the absence of their family members in their lives. The ones who grow up to ask questions? xx

why do you think so many kids are taken into care and so many court cases of course we the families try to speak out then we are gagged, as for Sir Munby he is another front man, tell me what he has done to help he is told like the rest of the system to say and to do the elite love the money and as Britain no longer rules most of the world so kids and family, the family paying untold thousands in the courts and many grandparents selling their homes to pay legal fees to get the kids out of care, such a corrupt bloody country, have you ever heard of an elite losing their kids to care NO

it would seem the System only wants responses from other So- called professionals. not the public. that gives you an idea of what they think of the Concerns of the british public.Very little to nothing.

I understand why people might take that view. We have to remember that there have been consultations open to the public on these issues in the past, and sometimes views are collected in demographics. It looks like this is one of those times when the consultation wants to ask a specific group, who are not usually asked, to be fair. However, I added the email in there on purpose, so anyone could email.

The current, abusive system of “Family” law has been entirely created by judges – why on Earth does Munby think that they would be any better in the future?

1:-Abolish forced adoption;
2:-Abolish social workers and leave child cruelty to the police
3:- Abolish the gagging of children in care and also their parents
I KNOW i repeat myself with these “improvements” but that does not make them any less true or less needed !
