An online conference hosted by Moses Farrow in July will look at violence against children within adoption placements.

The Town Hall, which is open to the public and free to attend, has been organised by Farrow, who is also the the founder of The Society of Messengers for Adoption Truth.

Farrow was adopted from South Korea when he was two-years-old and now campaigns to highlight the lesser known effects of adoption on children, in childhood and as adults.

The Town Halls are regular meet-ups created, produced and hosted by Farrow, and are designed to encourage curiosity and debate around the adoption industry and its idealistic spin on adoption.

July’s event will look at high profile cases in which adopted children were abused, injured and killed by their adoptive carers. Farrow has very kindly asked Researching Reform to share a case from the UK and to present information about the case during the session.

Adoption research is very limited and tends to focus on basic data, such as the number of adoptions in a country, the gender of the children being adopted and what kinds of relationships the adults were in at the time they adopted a child.

Much of the information and discussion around adoption focuses on the adults involved in the adoption process, while little is known about how children fare in adoptive placements.

The Town Hall takes place on Saturday, July 27 from 5pm to 6.30pm UK time.

Those interested in attending the conference can sign up through the Town Hall’s Eventbrite page.
