A social worker has been struck off after an audio recording emerged in which he made degrading comments about a victim of domestic violence, and shared her whereabouts with the man convicted of assaulting her. The incidents took place within a child protection investigation.
The man had been accused of standing on the pregnant woman’s face and threatening to pour oil on her. She later escaped by jumping out of a window.
The social worker, who has not been named, called the woman a “pathological liar” and said she was “bi-polar”. The HCPC conduct and competence committee reviewing the case said the social worker’s tone in the recording was “wholly disrespectful” and “bordering on degrading”.
Of greater concern was the social worker’s decision to tell the man accused of abusing the woman, the location and times of meetings she would be attending, putting her and her unborn child at risk. He also discussed confidential information the woman gave to a local support group.
The committee concluded that the social worker had abused a position of trust and potentially jeopardised an ongoing police investigation.
Whilst the social work professional admitted to all the allegations, he appeared to show no remorse.

The “unnamed social worker” can (and should) be named as Mr Kevin R Sinclair, of Sefton Council: https://www.hcpts-uk.org/hearings/listing/201708071000-final_hearing-sw35642

the HCPC need to change their policy. when any Social worker is found guilty of gross misconduct they should be struck off for life not just 2 yrs. staff working with children should be of the highest standard of honesty, integrity and professionalism.nothing less should do.

The trouble is that there are rather a lot of rotten apples in the social worker barrel. Every client that comes to us, without exception, says that “social workers told lies”.

Sounds like a real piece of work that needs to do some time behind bars. if i were running the country i would strip his assets and use the money to keep him in jail.
i hope you take the LA to court for Damages. £500,000 sounds about right to teach them a lesson. his Management will most likely have knew exactly what he was up to and probably were part of it.

This just in from Stowe:
“Social worker endangers pregnant domestic violence victim
by Stowe Family Law Web Team
A social worker has lost his job after he revealed the location of a pregnant woman to her alleged abuser.
The man worked for Sefton Council in Merseyside where, in 2015, he investigated reports of a woman who had jumped from a bedroom window to escape her partner. She reportedly had a mark on her face which suggested she had been stamped on along with bruises over her arms.
During an interview with the woman’s boyfriend, the social worker told him where she would be for an upcoming meeting. A tribunal at the Health and Care Professions Tribunal Service office in London, the organisation which determines if people are fit to be social workers, declared that this disclosure put the woman and her unborn child in danger of harm.
In addition to informing the man of her future whereabouts, the social worker also made personal comments about her, saying she was “not a bad looking girl” and had “some sort of personality disorder”. He told the partner there were “plenty more fish in the sea” and gave him advice about evading drug tests.
The details of this conversation were only revealed because the man he was talking to recorded the conversation. A senior member of Sefton Council told the tribunal that when the social worker heard the recording he “simply hung his head”.
The tribunal ruled that his actions “amounted to an inversion of the role of a social worker” as he had “disregarded the safety of the [woman] and her unborn child but instead chose to prioritise the needs of her alleged abuser who was a dangerous and violent individual”. They concluded that all of the allegations made against him had been proved and that “the misconduct in this case was incompatible with remaining on the Register” of social workers.
Back in June, another social worker was struck off after making a false claim that a woman had threatened to kill herself and her children.”
