When they talk continually about abusers and victims it does sound rather one sided.
In a small number of cases the “victim” makes up stories of abuse to gain custody of children or money or both and the so called abuser becomes a victim !
I agree that it is right to protect alleged victims from cross examination by alleged abusers but this should be counterbalanced by allowing the alleged abuser to nominate
a lawyer or friend to put selected questions for him/her to the alleged victim.The abuser behind a screen choosing the questions, but the lawyer or friend acting on instruction to be free to cross examine as hard and as long as necessary.
Yes victims need protection but should not be given freedom to make up accusations without being properly tested by cross examination.
