Any mother struggling to make ends meet could have reported in detail on the very obvious link between poverty and what social workers prefer to call ‘neglect’ – but no one listens. Lack of carpets, for example, signals lack of money – not lack of parenting skills but this type of ‘evidence’ is frequently used to remove children.
Is there any proof at all that children from wealthy families are happier than those from poorer backgrounds? How many “rich kids” take drugs and commit suicide? There are no statistics for that question but statistics do show that chilren from poor families are targetted because they do not have the power to resist the might of social services.
10,000 more children going into state care ….. That figure speaks for itself !
