Child welfare items in the news and other publications which should be right on your radar:
- Teachers and foster carers accused of child abuse in South Gloucestershire
- Over half of social workers yet to meet CPD requirement one month out from registration deadline
- Mothers’ details on marriage certificates (House of Commons Library)
Many thanks to TumTum for sharing the first item.

Whilst the government have abolished legal aid for those most in need, they have been availing and assisting Local Authorities (Children Services Departments), and some unsavoury solicitors who seen to be more preoccupied with the financial gain rather than the true value of their profession which should be the search of justice in the superior interest of children envolved. The result of this is the trafficking of children through the court system and aided by all agencies involved. When the minors are forcefully taken from their parents all agents begin a process and they all involve monetary charges. We can look at legal aid expenses, fostering expenses and the fact that the no-means tested for care proceedings legal aid starts with 25 000£ per certificate for an initial 26 weeks period but more of then intentionally prolonged in order to keep claiming for more legal aid without any consideration of the damage and distress that this cause for children involved. Later these children are placed into LA care and therefore they continue draw the tax payers as all this comes from our taxes. Finally, breaking even the law all agencies and courts included continue financially gain from the misery of the families they have destroyed.
How much longer are we going to allow this disgusting and shameful procedure to continue?

The costs of taking children from loving parents who might simply need help of some kind in difficult situations by making false allegations of harm of some kind, in the future in some cases, and all that they incur must be astronomical. These include the care proceedings themselves, CAFCASS/Guardians, social workers, other Social Services/local authority staff, care workers, psychologists, psychiatrists, any other ‘professionals’, stays in children’s homes/foster care, all in all a hell of a lot of money, courtesy of the tax payer, yet parents are denied legal aid. Then these same local authorities bleat a shortage of funds for cutting essential services to the vulnerable. My case was a good 20 years ago, it will have been happening before then and it’s still happening now. Millions of pounds will have been spent on these situations over many years by God knows how many local authorities yet it would no doub t have been much cheaper to give parents appropriate help in the first place rather than remove their children unnecessarily and on trumped up charges. It must be a very lucrative business for some otherwise why has it been allowed to continue for so long. It certainly isn’t in the best interests of the children.
