inWelcome to another week.
As the government is set to allow schools to re-open in June, our question this week is just this: do you think the government has done a good job of protecting children from the novel Coronavirus so far?
In short, no.
Little concern for Safeguarding children inside and at risk of care. Introduction of SI455 seems a back door mechanism to use law rejected only after threat of judicial review in 2017(?, I think)
No follow up for vulnerable families who would and have struggled with additional financial and social impact of ‘lockdown’. As with older people, vulnerable children and other adults barely featured in supportive measures during first 4/5 weeks.
The Govt had done a poor job generally and an appalling one specifically when considering vulnerable members of society

The Government had made a complete hash from the outset resulting in thousand of unnecessary deaths. They definitely have blood on their hands.
I have listed to their iterations on tv & the reality is quite different.
Protecting the NHS is tragic. They sold off stocks of PPE, didn’t join the EU procurement team who had offered PPE to the U.K, didn’t purchase PPE from UK manufacturers, who then sold it abroad, waited months to get stock but only after the Daily Mail organised plane loads.
As regards Care Homes they were last on the list. Covid 19 was seen as a virus that affected the elderly, the sick & infirm. It has also been said it was a plandemic to get rid of “bed blockers”
Sad to say while everyone was in lockdown the incidents of domestic violence & child abuse has soared. The full story is yet to be told.
Do I think the government has safe guarded children? I would have to say no. I don’t know what happened in children’s care homes but children are due to go back to school June 1st but Parliament’s Commons are balking about returning on June 3rd. How can you trust a government, who had made so many errors, to make good decisions about the nations children when they don’t want to return.
