The latest child welfare items that should be right on your radar:
- Virtual protest by Support Not Separation, against the discrimination of parents in UK family courts. Join the Twitter Storm on Wednesday 6th May – 12.30pm to 1.30pm and follow the hashtag #SupportNotSeparation
- Police arrest 45 suspected child abusers and take 92 children to safety during lockdown
- The parents who will refuse to send their children back to school if they reopen in June
Support not separation – “Stop snatching children from mums and nans” – They’ll get support from me when they include dads and grandpas too, and not until. Sick of this sexist shit from women.

Hey Tim, my understanding is that they are embracing of fathers and grandfathers who find themselves in the same position as mothers and grandmothers. Their work has historically been woman-focused because they have traditionally been a group unable to afford legal representation, as compared to men.
That’s my take on SNS anyway, I find them very welcoming of men and women who put children first.

Okay – I didn’t get as far as the text. I stopped reading after the banner at the top which referred to women only. Perhaps they should revise their slogan so as not to alienate 50% of the population before they’ve even started! I’m surprised that you think that women are unable to afford legal representation – if the “snatching” refers to social services taking children into care, all are entitled to legal aid, irrespective of gender; if it’s in private law, the more familiar situation is a woman claiming DV and getting legal aid v. a self representing father who can’t afford a solicitor.
