The latest child welfare items that should be right on your radar:
- ‘France let me keep baby UK wanted to take away’
- New Judgment: NY (A Child) [2019] UKSC 49. The appeal concerned a father’s application for an order for the immediate return of his daughter from England and Wales to Israel.
- Research: “Family? … Not Just Blood”: Constructions of “Family” in Adult, Former Foster Children’s Narratives.
France vs UK social worker practice.
Decisions made by social workers depend on many factors but UK social workers should look to learn from other countries & not be so risk adverse & lose their tick box mentality. France in this case didn’t see any reason to take the child away from his mother & he is thriving all the better for it. What a shame social workers cannot support families instead of breaking them apart.
Parliamentary support for the vulnerable women in the UK.
May I also take a moment to address all those 72 female MPs who support Megan Markle, Duchess of Sussex, & whilst I don’t want to make light of their stance, may I ask what they are doing for the vulnerable women who are denied a voice through media channels.
The women who find themselves in the Family Court, fighting for their children, who supports them?
The mothers on low incomes who have to feed their children from food banks, who supports them?
Are they worthy of support, or do they have to be a Duchess?

Since “the system” LOSES over 15,000 children every year, one has to wonder at just how safe children are, when taken away from their parents.
We’ve seen a 300% rise in the number of child abductions by “social services” while the number of murdered, injured and abandoned children has remained stable.
A few years ago, one fostering agency sold for £130million. That’s an indication of why this kind of thing is happening: there’s far too much money being made out of a “child protection” industry that probably should not be earning a penny.
