The latest child welfare items that should be right on your radar:
- Social workers face troubling questions over the death of three-year-old Alfie Lamb after his mother’s boyfriend pleads guilty to crushing him to death with a car seat – England
- New Bill will ‘strengthen children’s rights’ in family law court cases – Scotland
- Thousands of vulnerable children risk falling foul to hostile environment due to ‘woefully inadequate’ support – EU
“Social workers face troubling questions over the death of three-year-old Alfie Lamb after his mother’s boyfriend pleads guilty to crushing him to death with a car seat”.
Baby P all over again.
this is shure to ignite more aggression from LAs leading to more children taken into care for trivial reasons.

“According to the government, the new legislation will aim to “ensure that children’s best interests are at the centre of every family law case and that children’s views are heard by the court”.
I’ll believe that when i see it!
the problem here is that LAs have total control over these children to the extent they can simply refuse the child an Advocate for no good reason what so ever and nobody will do anything about it. all other professionals stay silent in fear of losing their jobs. effectively they will stand by and witness Children being gagged because their job is more important than challenging wrongdoing and Child abuse.

“As a result, a Bill will now be brought forward which will include proposals to regulate child contact centre”
Well that is what they say ……….. What they should do is to bring back free speech and stop gagging parents and children at contact centres !
Children should be allowed to discuss anything they like in any language they like with parents at contact ,including court proceedings ,the possibility of coming home, and any abuse they are suffering from fosterers or social workers. At present all these topics are forbidden and any breach results in contact being stopped (sometimes for good)
Telephones and laptops routinely confiscated to isolate children should be returned to them and they should have at least the same facilities as murderers and rapists in prison who can phone out and can speak about anything they like with visitors.
