A government debate on children’s social care hosted by the Backbench Business Committee took place yesterday. In an unusual move, the Committee did not send out details about the public event before it was held in the House of Commons.
The debate which was sponsored by Tim Loughton MP and initially scheduled to take place in October, was quietly cancelled last year without notice after thousands of parents across the UK expressed interest in the discussion. Some families had set aside funds to travel down to the event, while others had arranged to take the day off work at personal expense to attend. Backbench Committee debates are open to the public. Families across the country reacted to the cancellation with disappointment, while some parents criticised the government for what they felt was a cowardly decision.
We asked Tim for a further update on the event in November, but did not receive a response. The children’s social care debate which took place on 17 January first came to this site’s attention this morning, after seeing a tweet by Labour MP, Emma Lewell-Buck which featured a video clip of her speaking at the event. Unlike the original discussion set to take place in October, the debate held yesterday afternoon did not feature in any of the Backbench Committee’s email updates.
The committee also failed to provide timely and detailed information about the event through its own dedicated page on the Parliament website, choosing this time round to publish only the bare minimum on a sub-page of a Research Briefings section within the site just two days before the event. The page does not offer any information on the time-slot for the debate, who is hosting it, where it will be held in the Commons or when a transcript of the discussion might be available. The only information offered is a summary report on children’s social care.
The debate was opened by Tim Loughton MP and started at around 3pm. Discussions went on for two hours, ending at 5pm. MPs who took part included Parliamentary Under Secretary Nadhim Zahawi, Emma Lewell-Buck, Alex Burghart, Karen Lee, Lyn Brown, Vicky Ford, Laura Smith, Mohammad Yasin and Luke Pollard. You can watch the discussion on Parliament TV.
The transcript of the debate is also available in Hansard.
Many thanks to Michael Roberts for sharing the link to the debate on Parliament TV.

The family courts are secret, the backbencher debate on them was not open to the public or publicised, and no matter whether the government is Labour,or Tory,or a Coalition babies will continue to be stolen at birth for risks that may never happen !
The first principles they used to teach at law school were :-
1:- Justice must not only be done but must also be seen to be done.
2: – Any person accused is presumed innocent until proved guilty . (It is now the opposite in our family courts when parents are accused of emotionally harming their children or neglecting them they are presumed to be guilty !)

So when I was fighting a Case for all families hilighting lack of rights and information to families with Foster Care and Adoption and general involvement with Children’s Social Services and I was told all the information is already out there for the public to see/find and here it’s clear it wasn’t (not with transparency anyway) then my concerns were valid ‘re miscarriage of justice/potential miscarriage of justice.
Is there anything more for us to learn which has been done in secret on top, besides what Ian Joseph’s has already hilighted.
What about the things done in secret we might not be getting to find out through lack of/no transparency.
Are the parents, grandparents and children’s views experiencing/who have experienced the rough end of the pineapple type injustice not important to them then.

MP Lewell Buck claims
“Be in no doubt, under a Labour Govt every child will matter.”
The northeast City of Sunderland has been run by a Labour Council for many decades yet its Childrens Services are one of the worst rated in the country by Ofsted leading to its control of the dept being taken from them by David Cameron in Dec 2015. it has been run by the Co “Together for Children” since April 2017 yet it is still rated as failing by Ofsted.
No idea where MP Lewell Buck has been living but she seems well out of touch with the reality of the situation.

The same could be said about Sheffield CC/Social Services, also run by a labour council. It was the same when – briefly some years ago – it was the LibDems.

Update: I asked Emma Lewell-Buck this morning for a link to the Hansard for the debate, however, she declined to reply. A few hours later, a man on Twitter with the Handle @Harry_Harlow followed me and replied to my tweet to Emma, giving me the link. I noticed his formal name on the Twitter account was Mr. Buck, so I asked him if he was related to Emma. He confirmed via DM that he was her husband, Simon Buck. Simon now works for Emma as a parliamentary assistant, though he does not mention this on his Twitter profile. I googled his name and this came up: https://www.shieldsgazette.com/news/politics/exclusive-husband-of-south-shields-mp-branded-perpetrator-of-elder-abuse-after-care-probe-1-9078881

It s all full of bullshit. Emma advised me to approach Citizen advice bureau and blocked me on Twitter afterwards.Fate of children in this country is being decided behind closed doors and serfs will get ready made decision which they won,t be ever to contest. Unless serfs stop steaming in social media and go on streets in a style of non violent yellow vest style protest. I can,t imagine any other country with such appaling apathy and passivity when children are involved.Sure homeless animals deserve more attention?

Isn’t similar happening on mainland Europe, Norway I believe it is (although I could be wrong), where young children are snatched from their parents’ arms by sws? It is also happening in the USA, Canada and Australia.

We know why.
But how dare they, they are our children and they are spending and making millions profit from our money as child protection now privatised and appears largely unaccountable as this shows

We had our first child stolen at birth for risk of future harm? When my wife became pregnant again we went to France to be safe and be a family and we and our family we left in the UK were harrassed constantly by social services and the police. We were lucky enough to have a good high court judge acting in our case and we were able to come home safely and be a family but we met many in France who had to do the same and will never be able to return to the UK safely and be families. The family court system and government are a disgrace, stealing children from good familys this is all done in secret and needs to stop and be brought into the public eye.

it would seem the UK establishment are even more cruel and heartless than we thought.
but the rise of the internet and social media is bringing more power to the people than ever. before the internet families were living in individual boxes with little to no communication going on, now they are all in one big box and sharing stories and experiences good and bad.
as long as the social media giants dont continue their persecution of protesters and campaigners online then its set to keep rising. the establishment will be running scared eventually. all Suppressive systems must and will fall in the end.

Dear Mr Loughton
I imagine the readers of the following blog post would appreciate your response, and belated update. So would I for that matter, for what it is worth.
Government Holds Children’s Social Care Debate IN SECRET.

It would appear that secrecy is the way forward for parliament and the judiciary to deal with this issue. The establishment is unlikely to say expressly – “we got it wrong folks”, for fear of ECHR uprising if it is found out exactly how many and in what circumstances children have been removed from their homes and voices silenced. The peaceful protesting outside of the RCJ, is likely somewhat surprising to the MOJ re forced adoption. Yes, even in the face of the most invasive harms, we serfs can maintain a respectful air of grace.
But this represents one of the few exceptions. Everyday, I note just how weak and passive we Brits are, but whilst I understand the levels of social control people are under, there is a need to find voice together that is not thwarted, gagged or twisted. Thanks for the internet, but we need to be more collective and clever – these are our children, our nation’s children. Thinking, about our own households is not good enough – social services tend to go for weaker individuals, rather than support them and create health and social problems with the narrative of ‘child protection’ . But it could be anybody next – and when it happens it is like a meteorite. Dare challenge this meteorite and there will be never-ending trouble. This is unacceptable.

When parents flee to Ireland and other countries before court proceedings have started the “SS” in the UK pursue them and snatch the babies back. They do not like to leave matters to the authorities in Ireland and other countries because each chils is Worth a ton of money to those involved in the childsnatching.
Yes I know that court cases abroad and travel expenses for social workers can cost the local authority a lot of money but since when did those who work for Councils ever care about wasting money,?
As long as the fostering and adoption agencies , the special schools ,and huge “charities” make a huge profit and some of that trickles down to social workers and others the individuals involved are more than happy !

The water gets ever murkier, and the web of deceit ever tighter, the older I get.
At eighty-two, I thought I had learned much of what there was to know about this country in which I was born. No way; I am as one newborn. My eyes have been opened by those who have suffered so much, and been forced to face a future that is seasoned with much pain.
I feel angry that I have spent so much of my life being duped by the Establishment; the very system in which I placed so much trust. This was the system by which my parents lived and brought me up to believe in.
Politicians, lawyers, judges and the police were people to trust and believe in while royalty was sacrosanct – and not expected to cause an accident one day and then drive around in a new car the next, as though nothing had happened – and without so much as a thought for the trauma caused.
Sorry – this is no longer the country with values I recognise, and those at the top are unworthy of respect or trust..
