Charlie has today passed away. He was taken to a hospice to spend his final moments with his parents. Chris and Connie had wanted to bring Charlie home but were not given the chance to do so.
We are profoundly saddened by Charlie’s death, and offer our sincerest condolences to Charlie’s parents and all those who did not know Charlie personally, but loved him unconditionally nonetheless.
An incredibly difficult case, in which medical professionals clashed not just with each other, but with the parents on whether treatment would help or offer Charlie a better quality of life. A legal battle lasting 5 months came to an end this week when a judge ruled that Charlie could not go to America for pioneering treatment and would have to have his life support withdrawn.
All that is left are the most important aspects of this terrible story: two dedicated, loving parents who have lost a child. We hope journalists, professionals and the public will be deeply respectful of these, during what is an incredibly difficult time for the family.
Yes its a very Sad day for the parents and all those around the world who only wanted this stricken little boy to have a chance to live.
GOSH got what they wanted in the end but it wasnt what we the people wanted and now its going to be bitter memories of what they have done on this day.
i doubt if any of those who wanted him to die will loose any sleep tonight.
We hope Charlie has gone to a better place. a place where only loving warm hearted beings reside.
So long little boy. we will never forget you and how you captured our Hearts.

The parents should have been allowed to send him to the States and the hospital and courts had no right to interfere.
Similarly the parents should have had the right to remove him from the hospital at any time ,given the circumstances but horrible peoples would not let them choose where he could die !
Of course he was a prisoner since they stopped him leaving with his parents and spent thousands of £s doing it

i completely agree.
and to think the court never asked for evidence that Charlie was in pain or suffering is a damn disgrace. Courts are supposed to be based on evidence to back up claims. in this case they used guess work and the courts accepted it.
the parents repeatedly stated that Charlie was not suffering and was very stable. if that was true then he could have been kept on life support for quite some time in the hope that new treatments and brain recovery science came along.
if we look at the Singer Freddie Mercury he died in 1991 and almost right after his death a new breakthrough came in Hiv treatment. Singer Holly Johnson got that new treatment and he’s still alive and well today.
this is the “We dont know whats just round the corner” argument and its a damn good one.
Charlies parents will spend the rest of their lives always wondering “What if”.
What GOSH and the courts have done feels very much like an Execution. now we know how dangerous the system can be and we are all at risk from it.
Yesterday was a warning shot to us all that the human Race is not that Humane at all and is in fact moving into a very Dark place in our Evolution.

And all those who wanted Charlie to have that one chance to live.
its so difficult trying to come to terms with the Morality of this whole event. i still cant believe they took away his Air supply and let the poor child suffocate when there was so much support for him all around the World.
their ill thought out actions must have damaged the reputation of Gosh for shure.
