In July of this year the government promised a full scale consultation focusing on improving the practice of cremations after a scandal broke in which it was revealed that crematoriums across the nation had lost the ashes of babies, causing severe emotional trauma to the parents involved. That consultation has been published today.

The consultation would like proposals on how to improve the Cremation Regulations 2008, and also seeks views on how to improve the cremation process so devastating errors in the future can be avoided.
