This evening, Channel 4 will be airing a programme about children’s behaviour which will explore whether children are born naughty or whether their mischief is down to less than adequate parenting skills.
The series will be hosted by Dr Dawn Harper, and will follow several children whose behaviour has been deemed extreme, and will attempt to uncover the underlying reasons for their conduct and offer solutions.
For what it’s worth, we don’t happen to think that children are born naughty, rather each child has his or her own temperament, which needs to be acknowledged and worked with. We also happen to think a little spirited mischief is no bad thing (we have to confess to having been a Devil Child ourselves – our parents’ words, not ours).

I would give anything to have the sometimes naughty, mischievous little devil of an 8 year old grandson back that Social Services took into “CARE?”
He could also be loving, and caring, and was always inquisitive, he would give you small presents, which although not valuable, meant a lot to him.
He is now 12 years old, overweight, lethargic, with a sadness behind his eyes that makes me want to cry. They have stolen his soul and his personality.
I can never forgive these people, trading in children’s lives for financial gain.

5 days ago I found out that 14 year olds in care are having loads of vaccinations I personally beleive they are being used as guinea pigs and yes it is affecting them big time so for the contacts do they drug the kids to keep them quite and not speak of their abuse if any.

I agree 100%.Using children in corporate care in vaccine trials is nothing new after all. Yes foster carers get extra money if the children are deemed naughty and daring to speak the truth re abuse in care.

How can a child know right from wrong unless they are naughty first, then it is for the parents to sit and talk and tell the child and this is how they grow up learning right from wrong from being naughty, but sadly parents listen to the QUACKS and the media OH the kids are this that or other just as this program will be then off the parents go to the Docs and the poor kids prescibed drugs , does any one look at the vaccinations or the chemicals in the food and water that is having a reaction to the kids own chemicals they are born with and what of the immune system being broken down by vaccinations and chemicals all affecting the brains of the kids who do not have a 100% immune system untill I think its about the age of 6/7

you can read of the latest research of the dangers of the drugs and vaccinations on the web site of the charity so yes children have to be naughty to learn what is right so does the governments want all kids born 100% good what planet are they are on such pr–ts all of them they forget they were kids and what of the kids taken into care they are surrounded by QUACKS and the poor kids are moved from one foster to another because the QUACKS write the kids are disruptive of course they are because they are in fear with strangers and NO one listens to them, again today by the help line a father reported his 2 kids living in fear afraid to speak out this so called corrupt country is mind controlling, but naughty kids I for one love them they can be so funny.

Hi Maggie, the increase in diagnoses for things like ADHD is worrying. This may be partly due to big pharma, but also absent parents who are out having to work and coming home to children who feel abandoned, and then act out. I have a suspicion that this kind of neglect, though often unwitting and borne out of a need to survive, may be at the root cause of much of what we see today in relation to children’s difficulties.

I totally agree with you on this. I worked when my first child was young and he was diagnosed with ADHD. I gave up work when my next child was born and saw the difference in my son immediately. I was so exhausted in the evenings when working that I was not a present parent really.
I have noticed something else- the PAIN – on leaving children and going to work. I mean that I have met other parents who admitted that they disconnected from their children the moment they were born because of the pain of leaving them and returning to work. Of course the child picks up on this intuitively and acts accordingly. A pediatric cranial osteopath really wised me up to the truth of this many years ago now.
Children need 100% parental care.
Mothers having to work to pay bills and feed their children is placing too much pressure on them and the children pick up on that pressure too.

The more powers that are removed from the parents, the more the children run riot!
The more that children are removed from their homes to live in care the more the next generation suffers too!
Until parenting courses are part of our schooling this dreadful care system will continue.
Remove the money made from those working in child protection.
If all that happens we will have happier more stable families and society but the rich will be a little more poorer! I can live with that!

True. We have a lost generation of parents- because of mothers being forced to work and do all the house work and caring for children.
This lost generation of mother child bonding has created a generation who do not know the feeling of mother love and cannot pass it on.
It was called equality- where mothers were groomed to believe they were now equal to men but had to do twice the work. The caring and housework were to be done for free- slave labour.

I have observed many parents and children over the years and seen the children mirror the actions of their parents.
Most parents were unaware of this and did not want to address the matter either.
These were the controlling helicopter parents who mapped out their children’s lives pre birth. These children were not allowed to think for themselves or express themselves as individuals. Most were wealthy families too who lacked nothing and these children would never be subject to child protection agents. I have seen these children shut down and go silent age 3.
It is not a clear cut subject to address as there are so many aspects to look at.
First look at the parents lives as children and do not blame them if we want a solution.

via the help line and this goes back to the 70s to present day many women who do stay at home with the kids have said “my husband is at work all day comes home and falls asleep in the chair we have no life” my answer was “do you have to travel pay the bills and be the main breadwinner” so many women pee me off they want it all ways and for many their kids are in day nurseries as for the so called experts who run this bloody country most of them had au-pairs, it is time that grandparents had rights as they do in many countries in the world, the British have always been known as a cold race and sadly the kids have always been an excuse for this or that and they are the ones who suffer i was never a feminist but i do get peed off with many women who want it all and blame others for their own disorganisation.

This is not an `either’, `or’ circumstance to analyse. It is vastly complicated and there are as many reasons for `naughtiness’ in children as there are children who are `naughty’.
To misquote Sir Winston Churchill, “There are some who are born naughty, there are others who attain it in their childhood, and there are others who have naughtiness thrust upon them”.
Those who are born naughty are those with brain defects (e.g. psychopathy which is now diagnosable in adulthood by MRI Brain Scan). Such psychopathic children are usually without empathy, compassion, and concern for others and may have a vicious streak which initially shows itself in cruelty to animals. Whilst such psychopathy cannot be `cured’, it can be ameliorated by close affectionate bonding with a mother but the effects of this will be quite limited.
Those who attain naughtiness are those children who are emotionally neglected and have parents who are indifferent to their emotional needs and not giving attention to their needs. If children are ignored in trying to gain such attention by requests or appeals, then they can resort to bad behaviours which are responded to and constantly reinforced.
Those children who have naughtiness thrust upon them are those children who suffer brain damage from neurotoxins, particularly in some vaccines or combination of vaccines or suffer violent head injury.
All of these factors, whether they are present at birth or due to neglectful parenting or due to environmental factors, are usually in combination with a complex interplay of factors, so simply saying that “Its down to bad parenting” is not a viable proposition.
What can be said of naughtiness in children then, is that there is no single cause, and there is no single remedy. (see The Child, the Family, and Wider Society – circa 1966 – Govt White Paper).

Parents have been blamed for how their children behave infinitum! Social workers have turned it into an art form to excuse the lack of real help available or given to support the family or they write it in their reports as evidence for the family courts to take the children from the parents!
Research has shown peer pressure has a lot to do with the behaviour of older kids but what about the younger ones? They too can bounce off other siblings, their parents and play extended family up against each other. Kids are very clever and manipulative and selfish in their desire to get what they want or get out of what they don’t want to do or just to survive. However much they push the boundries they know just how often they can get away with it and limit themselves and can be steered into doing the “right” thing which is usually what the parents want them to do. Some children can’t moderate their behaviour no matter what incentives or punishments and it has nothing to do with parenting skills.
Having said that there is no doubt some parents need help and support to parent as they don’t know how to bring up a child and as there is so much conflicting advice, parents lurch from one thing to another. The family unit is a lot more scattered and diverse than it once was, so that mentoring is not there or perhaps unwanted as the advice is out of date!
Mental health Services, the poor relation of the NHS, hasn’t got the resources to deal with patients yet £millions are spent every year on the psychology of why children act out. When the reason is found, what is done to help the child in timely fashion? Nothing much! Until more money goes into mental health services and less into removing kids the better families will be!
