I think it’s pretty obvious to all that the child protection system is just not working the way it should in the UK and some other countries. It has become an industry not care! I was very pleased to see UKIP, who was the only party who specifically mentioned child protection in their manifesto, wanted to make reforms after acknowledging the system was failing. The other parties glossed over childrens social care! The focus was not on the children but on getting more social workers!
As regards the failings of police in the Rotherham scandal its unfair to tag all the police with that label as those on the ground get their directives from those high up the ladder! Those who resigned, like Shaun Wright, should not have been allowed but instead dismissed after an investigation if deserved. It’s scandalous they can resign, move on to new pastures and keep their pension intact despite leaving devastation behind!
