The Protection Measures Regulation, which came into force on 11th January, provides automatic recognition and enforcement, within EU States, of civil protection measures made by another Member State. The effect of this Regulation is to extend the tools available to DV victims with the EU.

For a very good explanation of how this Regulation works, and its scope (it doesn’t just cover DV), David Hodson’s piece over at Jordans is a must-read.

And for those of you thorough bunnies who like to know the origins of such things, this article by Emma Patey gives a nice summary of The Measure’s progress.
