Some more interesting news stories:

  • Palestinian Women Hope to Gain Divorce Rights – But with strings attached; if the new law is implemented, women will be able to divorce without their husbands’ permission, but will have to pay them back every single penny, including their dowry and living costs from their time together.
  • Judge enraged by bitter divorce case in which father claims his religion is above the law – A very interesting case for anyone fascinated by the tensions between state law and religious custom.

  • The Times reports (3/9/13) that a cuckolded husband has branded the family courts ‘appalling’ following his divorce proceedings, in which he was forced to sell his family home to his ex wife’s partner, in order to raise fund for his wife to buy a new property.
