We have just come across this very interesting article on how single fathers are now facing similar difficulties to the ones single mothers have faced and continue to face, but this time, the cause is the economic crisis.

It is still the case that the majority of single parents who struggle to juggle childcare and income are mothers, but single fathers are now facing the prospect of lower incomes at best and no income at worst, which is seeing many single dads over Europe either turning to their families for help or in the most severe cases, becoming homeless.

DadsHouse, which is an organisation Researching Reform champions, is helping to fill that gap, by offering support to single fathers. One of the organisation’s aims is to provide low-cost accommodation for single fathers until they can get back on their feet.

As the economy comes home to roost, organisations like DadsHouse will become lifelines. The article above is very much worth a read….
