This week, John Bolch and I give you the latest news on the Legal Aid Bill, radical new proposals for Child Maintenance, Sir Nicholas Wall’s latest speech and current stats on divorce, marriage and co-habitation.
Here at Researching Reform we are passionate (truly passionate, we haven’t been told to insert the word into every post we write by a PR company) about children, so it is always distressing for us to read about their neglect or abuse. However, this article about a child taken into care for being a stone and half overweight for his age (which is defined as clinically obese)made us think. Are we right to take children away from their parents on grounds like these or have we gone social engineering wild? What do you think?
Possible answer: The mere fact of the child’s weight alone should not be enough to see them being taken into care.
